Welcome to the

Maine Centralized Section8/ HCV Waiting Lists

A partnership between the twenty (20) housing authorities in the State of Maine that administer the Section 8/Housing Choice Voucher program. Applicants apply once and are added to the waiting list for each participating housing authority.

The Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCV) under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is the major rental assistance program helping very low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled to rent decent, safe, and affordable housing in the private market.The “Maine Centralized Section 8/HCV Waiting List” is a partnership between the twenty (20) housing authorities in the State of Maine that administer the Section 8/Housing Choice Voucher program. The Centralized Waiting List opened on April 10, 2013 in accordance with provisions contained in the United States Housing Act of 1937, as amended, and will remain opened indefinitely. Applicants apply once and are added to the waiting list for each participating housing authority.
All applicant information entered into this list can be accessed and updated by any and all participating housing authorities and by our partners, AffordableHousing.com, who assist the participating housing authorities and applicants with the application process and provide the software used to manage the waiting list. Waiting list information is secure and accessed only by authorized personnel. The waiting list is constantly updated to keep applicant information current. Apply Once

Each participating housing authority accepts applications via our online form, mail, or in person. Applicants DO NOT need to apply more than once. See How To Apply to learn more.

The housing authorities have not been issued any additional housing choice vouchers by HUD. Vouchers will be issued by each housing authority based on their turnovers and their preferences and priorities for their local HCV.
