AffordableHousing.com continued its annual tradition of supporting area families with a backpack and school supply giveaway on July 30, 2026, distributing 700 backpacks stocked with supplies for the new school year.

Held in Delray Beach, Florida, the event brought AffordableHousing.com together with the Delray Beach Police Department, Eat Better Live Better, Delray Housing Group, City National Bank, iThink Financial, and the Delray Beach Housing Authority to help students head back to school prepared.

The backpack giveaway has longstanding roots close to home for AffordableHousing.com and in its relationship with the Delray Beach Housing Authority. That relationship dates back to before Richard Cupelli founded the company, when he was already working with the housing authority to help families find and secure housing.

“We are so grateful for AffordableHousing.com’s continued support of our families and community,” said Shirley Erazo, President and CEO of the Delray Beach Housing Authority. “Their commitment goes back to the beginning, when Richard was a local property owner working with us to help families through the process of finding and securing housing. It means a great deal to see that commitment continue today.”

More than 20 years later, AffordableHousing.com has grown into the nation’s largest online marketplace for affordable housing, but maintaining strong ties to the communities it serves remains an important part of the company’s mission.

“Our roots in affordable housing began at the local level, working directly with families and housing agencies,” said Cupelli. “This event is one way we can continue showing up for families in our own backyard and help kids start the school year with what they need.”
